May Flowers and Summer Sweeties

Hi everyone… i’m back from my holidays, I had a fab time, it was lovely to spend time with my family overseas ๐Ÿ™‚

I hit the shops today, I needed to get Chunky a new collar, I wanted a couple of new tops for work and whilst I was there popped into hobbycraft ๐Ÿ˜‰

I picked up a packet of pillow boxes from the wedding section of hobbycraft, as its something I’ve never used or worked with before, ย I had to wait until this evening to make something with them as my shed was like an oven in this lovely heatwave we are having ๐Ÿ™‚

The first one I made used the Echo Park Hello Spring paper collection, I had a spare piece of the butterfly paper left over from the photo frame project on my previous post, and it made sense to use it up before breaking into another fresh sheet ๐Ÿ˜‰

I added lace and machine stitched the edges then embelished it with one of the accent stickers, which I matted and layered before adhering it to the front of the pillow box

Supplies List :-

  • Pillow Boxes from Hobbycraft
  • Echo Park Hello Spring Collection pack
  • White Lace & Sewing Machine
  • Wild Orchid Crafts Flowers
  • Dimensional Adhesive
  • Scortape
  • Stardust stickles

then I made another one using Wild Honey Distress Ink

I am planning to make another couple of these tomorrow morning and recording the process on Ustream, then I will feature all 4 for on Youtube for my next WOC DT Project …

Supplies Used :-

  • Tim Holtz Wild Honey Distress Ink
  • Heat Gun
  • Yellow Iridescent Butterflies from Wild Orchid Crafts
  • Mulberry Flowers and Pearls from Wild Orchid Crafts
  • Studio G Stamps from Hobbycraft
  • Sepia Archival Ink from Ranger

Thanks for Popping in… Sarah ๐Ÿ™‚

Butterfly Picture Frame

Hi everyone….

here is my latest Youtube DT Project for Wild Orchid Crafts… a nice wee butterfly picture frame ๐Ÿ™‚

It started off as a Papier Mache type frame from my local Hobbycrafts Store… and with a lick of paint, distress crackle medium, flowers and butterflies.. and the lovely new Echo Park Hello Spring Paper collection, here is what I made…

I thought I would do a step by step photo progress of this project and there is also the Youtube Video to have a peek at too ๐Ÿ™‚

Take one picture frame…

and some Folkart Lemonade Acrylic Paint

I gave it around 3 coats…

the edges were coated in 4 different colours of chalk ink, I used the Echo Park Hello Spring patterned paper as a backing paper for the frame and a trio of butterfly accent stickers ย and a coat of rock candy distress crackle paint.

Once the crackle paint dried I rubbed the frame with some Wild Honey Distress Ink

I then took a tando creative wooden butterfly and dipped it in the Wild Honey Distress ink and sprayed it with water a few times, then edged it in green chalk ink and placed some rhinestones up the centre

Added a few gorgeous flowers from Wild Orchid Crafts and its finished ๐Ÿ™‚

I got the seahorse stamp and I love it… but then again I love anything remotely “horsey”

a pebble background stamp…. I love a pebbled beach

and a nice grunge flourish background stamp

and finally a thankyou free stamp from Stampers best ๐Ÿ™‚

and finally the strawberry with love card I made… I am going to have to invest in either more Promarkers or Copics now that i’m getting into stamping ๐Ÿ˜‰ … I muddled through with the colours I had.. but only just ๐Ÿ™‚ more required soon

Postman Swap Challenge

Happy Bank Holiday Monday everyone ๐Ÿ™‚

Taking full advantage of an extra day off work I headed up to my shed early doors this morning to create a few bits n pieces.. One of which is this fun little book box below…

A couple of weeks ago I recieved another envelope from the Postman Swap that a few of us crafting gals took part in, and this month’s envelope came from Sam, which was packed with fin things to use…

I managed to use up the sheet music paper, playing cards, admit one ticket, some wire mesh a chipboard gear and a metal key charm!

The stuff I used from my own stash to make this was a little chipboard book box, texture paste and sticky metal tape stuff and some sprays and distress stains and alcohol inks.

This is what the book looked like before.. I picked this up at a recent craft fair from the store Indigoblu.com

I gave it a coat of linen acrylic paint

then started to stick things down and embelish it ..

I used the wire mesh to create texture on the moulding paste ..

Thanks for the postie swap this month sam… i loved setting myself this wee challenge ๐Ÿ™‚
