Steampunk Christmas Tree Workshop

Hi Everyone,

It is hard to believe it is December already, the weeks are just flying in!

I was over in Edinburgh yesterday at Stampers Grove for a Steampunk Christmas Tree workshop and I thought I would share all the lovely trees made by all who attended πŸ™‚

I didn’t manage to get a picture of Rita or Isobel’s trees as they left before I got around to taking a picture of them but they looked lovely πŸ™‚

The Christmas Clay Vase

Hi Everyone..

Welcome to Day 11 of Blogmas!

Today I gave a clay vase that I bought a couple of years ago a bit of a festive makeover… it was looking a bit sorry for itself sitting up on the shelf in my shed.

clay vase.jpg

So… I gave it a layer of Deco Art Media White Gesso, dried it with my heat gun, then gave it a lick of Captain Peacock fresco finish chalk acrylic paint from paperartsy…

I wrapped some twine around the middle, painted a balsa wood star with Deco Art Media fluid acrylic metallic gold paint and placed a few sprigs of glittery foliage into it and we are done πŸ™‚

I love making my own home decor for Christmas, makes it that wee bit special knowing its homemade…

As always thanks for popping round and if you fancy joining me tomorrow, I will have another festive project for you.

Masculine Christmas Gift Box

Hello Everyone!

A warm welcome to Blogmas Day 10! .. gosh we are into double digits now πŸ™‚ we have 14 more days left until Christmas Eve and of course the end of Blogmas!

Today I have a masculine gift box to share with you.. it started out as a plain brown hexagonal paper mache box…

mcgb1

I half started making this the other night when I made a christmas card and mixed up too much of the light green paint, and instead of wasting it, I painted the lid of this box.

Supplies List :-

  • 1 x paper mache box
  • Paperartsy Hyde Park Semi Opaque Green Paint
  • Deco Art Media Tinting Base .. when I mixed it with the Hyde park it gave me the colour on the lid.
  • First Edition Wild at Heart 6×6 patterned paper stack (I love this stack)
  • Double Sided Tape
  • Black Tartan Ribbon from Stampers Grove
  • 3 x Painted Pinecones from Hobbycraft (you get 6 in a bunch)
  • Hot glue gun to stick the pinecones down

mcgb1

Now that I am writing this blog post and looking at the picture I am wishing that I had edged all the paper panels and the edges of the lid with distress ink just to give it some definition..

As always, thank you for popping round and I will see you tomorrow for Day 11 πŸ™‚

Festive Tray

Hi Everyone!

Welcome to Blogmas Day 9!

I made it ….. by the skin of my teeth with today’s project πŸ™‚

I still have a few bits n bobs to add to this but it is almost there so thought I would share it as is..

I am at Stampers Grove tomorrow making festive trays with the lovely ladies and this is sample tray No. 2

festive-tray

These trays are perfect for filling with goodies (tea/coffee/biscuits or toiletries/perfume/makeup or even sit a dolly or a big teddy in the middle and wrap up in cellophane with a big bow on top..

I want to add some glittery snowflakes (using the Tim Holtz dies I used earlier in the week) along the outside edges just to finish this off but I will need to do that tomorrow morning.

I’m off to bed now as it is an early start for me in the morning, then I will see you all tomorrow evening for another blogmas project… I’m thinking it might be a gift box πŸ˜‰

As always, I appreciate you coming round

Halloween Pumpkin

Hi Everyone!

You know the other day how I said I was done with Halloween? Β ….well…..I forgot that I bought a paper mache pumpkin when I was in Hobbycraft and seeing as it is Halloween tomorrow, I thought I better paint it πŸ˜€

I actually got a bargain it was reduced to Β£4.00 ! So here is my naked pumpkin, it is fairly big and about the size of a medium real one πŸ˜‰

bare

I gave it an initial coat of Paperartsy Butternut Opaque chalk finish paint I didnt have any opaque orange paints so had to improvise

one-coat

then I added a dollop of Deco Art Media Tinting Base and some quinacridone gold which gave me a pale orange colour

coat-2

then i mixed in more quinacridone gold to the base dollop on my desk and we are getting there..

coat-3

and even more ….

coat-4

then i dry brushed neat quinacrodone gold all over the top.. and happy with the result

final-coat

Happy Halloween everyone!!

Hearts and Flowers Gift Box

Hi everyone..

The sun is out today for a change so I headed up to my wee shed to make some stuff πŸ™‚

I have not been feeling very crafty of late, so it was nice to get up there and get covered in paint and glue!

I made two things today … I altered a paper mache heart shaped box and made a display board for my fridge magnets (to take to a workshop).

I recorded a video for both which I will edit this afternoon and will blog the display board tomorrow.

heart gift box

I made a slight change to the box at the last minute and will post a picture below..
