bare stars.jpg

I have had a lot of fun painting stuff for christmas this year, and I used some of the Imagination Crafts Starlights Paints to give these stars a lovely shiny new coat..

The three colours I chose to paint them were Apple Green, Chartruese and Jade.. I love how they turned out and they will look great on the tree πŸ™‚

The Christmas Clay Vase

Hi Everyone..

Welcome to Day 11 of Blogmas!

Today I gave a clay vase that I bought a couple of years ago a bit of a festive makeover… it was looking a bit sorry for itself sitting up on the shelf in my shed.

clay vase.jpg

So… I gave it a layer of Deco Art Media White Gesso, dried it with my heat gun, then gave it a lick of Captain Peacock fresco finish chalk acrylic paint from paperartsy…

I wrapped some twine around the middle, painted a balsa wood star with Deco Art Media fluid acrylic metallic gold paint and placed a few sprigs of glittery foliage into it and we are done πŸ™‚

I love making my own home decor for Christmas, makes it that wee bit special knowing its homemade…

As always thanks for popping round and if you fancy joining me tomorrow, I will have another festive project for you.

Masculine Christmas Gift Box

Hello Everyone!

A warm welcome to Blogmas Day 10! .. gosh we are into double digits now πŸ™‚ we have 14 more days left until Christmas Eve and of course the end of Blogmas!

Today I have a masculine gift box to share with you.. it started out as a plain brown hexagonal paper mache box…

mcgb1

I half started making this the other night when I made a christmas card and mixed up too much of the light green paint, and instead of wasting it, I painted the lid of this box.

Supplies List :-

  • 1 x paper mache box
  • Paperartsy Hyde Park Semi Opaque Green Paint
  • Deco Art Media Tinting Base .. when I mixed it with the Hyde park it gave me the colour on the lid.
  • First Edition Wild at Heart 6×6 patterned paper stack (I love this stack)
  • Double Sided Tape
  • Black Tartan Ribbon from Stampers Grove
  • 3 x Painted Pinecones from Hobbycraft (you get 6 in a bunch)
  • Hot glue gun to stick the pinecones down

mcgb1

Now that I am writing this blog post and looking at the picture I am wishing that I had edged all the paper panels and the edges of the lid with distress ink just to give it some definition..

As always, thank you for popping round and I will see you tomorrow for Day 11 πŸ™‚

Festive Tray

Hi Everyone!

Welcome to Blogmas Day 9!

I made it ….. by the skin of my teeth with today’s project πŸ™‚

I still have a few bits n bobs to add to this but it is almost there so thought I would share it as is..

I am at Stampers Grove tomorrow making festive trays with the lovely ladies and this is sample tray No. 2

festive-tray

These trays are perfect for filling with goodies (tea/coffee/biscuits or toiletries/perfume/makeup or even sit a dolly or a big teddy in the middle and wrap up in cellophane with a big bow on top..

I want to add some glittery snowflakes (using the Tim Holtz dies I used earlier in the week) along the outside edges just to finish this off but I will need to do that tomorrow morning.

I’m off to bed now as it is an early start for me in the morning, then I will see you all tomorrow evening for another blogmas project… I’m thinking it might be a gift box πŸ˜‰

As always, I appreciate you coming round

It also uses the new Tim Holtz /Sizzix Thinlets snowflake dies that I used the other day too… here is a wee picture of the ones I bought, I am hoping to use the branches dies very soon too..

Purple Rain-Deer

Hi Everyone..

Welcome to Blogmas Day 6!

Today’s Christmas crafty project is a couple of purple reindeer Glitter and Shimmer πŸ™‚

purple2

I have made these for Alex at work’s daughter to hang on her wee christmas tree, I made the glittery one first and I think If i was making another glittery one I would give it a base layer of paint the same colour of glitter I was going to cover it with, the reason being, if you look hard enough you can see the paper mache brown shining through… did i mention i got these at hobbycraft reduced to 50p each.. i love a wee bargain

But as this will be going on a Christmas tree I don’t think you will notice it too much..as after the glittery one was finished, I painted the other one with Imagination Crafts Lilac Mist Starlights paint… i like this one better

purple1

I forgot to mention that I gave the glittery one a good old spray with Crafters Companion shiny varnish spray to keep the glitter in, as it sheds like crazy

I really need to get my christmas cards made, so tomorrow will be a card post πŸ™‚

As always, thank you so much for popping round and I will catch you all tomorrow πŸ™‚

Gilded Christmas Ornaments

Hi Everyone!

Welcome to Blogmas Day 3

I have had a super busy day today, my day Β started off with a workshop at Stampers Grove in Edinburgh, followed by late lunch with the boys, a couple of hours housework and then I headed up the garden to my shed to make things πŸ™‚

If you remember last week I featured Tags and Cards that were gilded with gilding flakes to make them look that wee bit special… well today I thought I would share some tree ornaments that I gilded too.

I took a paper mache reindeer and a glass clip on bird and turned them into lovely ornaments.. here are a couple of before and after pictures

The Reindeer

Glass Clip on Bird (it’s hard to see against the background.. I tried a few but they all looked the same πŸ™‚
