Handmade Glittery Felt Flowers

I love making these… they are a tad footery to do but love the end result πŸ™‚

First of all take some felt and cut 8 petal shapes, dip the edges in glossy accents and then re-dip into a small container with some fine glitter .. or some german glass glitter and set aside to dry completely… I made these yesterday and allowed them to dry overnight.

Then you need to sew them all together into a flower shape (just imagine the flower below has glitter around the edges πŸ˜‰ Β )

Next you need to create the stamen for the centre with some fine wire and seed beads, its Β too complicated to explain the process, so will do a ustream tutorial on it one day soon πŸ™‚

Then you need to stitch the stamen onto the centre of the felt flower, and also pick a nice glass bead or button and stitch that to the middle too πŸ™‚

Then your done! … I turned mine into a christmas tag…

Thanks so much for visiting πŸ™‚

By the light of the silvery moon….

2 Cards in one day… i’m on a wee card roll πŸ˜‰

I made this card this afternoon whilst watching Laurel over on Ustream…. this card is going to be part of a set, and its No. 2 in the 6 part series πŸ˜‰

The small seed bugle beads are all stitched onto the grey felt by hand, there is something about hand stitching beads to projects that I’m really enjoying!

Fabric ATC

Last week I brought some ink sprays and muslin fabric down from the workshop to the kitchen table and played around dying some background swatches… Tonight in the workshop I created an ATC with one of the backgrounds..

I’m still practicing with the whole sewing thing, and have loads of ideas in my head what I want things to look like, but it’ll take me a while to get there so just taking baby steps at the moment… I guess it will be like the very first cards I made, I thought they were brilliant, and when I look back now I cringe lol… This fabric ATC is the same, I love it… but a couple of years down the line I may think differently πŸ˜‰

There are several layers to this ATC..

  • Backing (bottom layer) is non furry hessian with a small weave
  • Middle layer is grey felt
  • Top Layer is ink sprayed Muslin
  • Embelished with Seam binding and satin ribbon offcuts from a project i’m working on at the moment πŸ™‚
  • Its all stitched with Silver Gutterman Thread
  • There’s some Bugle beads in the 4 corners attached to a small square of seam binding.
